Evolution Advanced Options
The Evolution Advanced Options display links which mainly allow the user to turn on the trace mode and set the API polling rate.
Turn Trace On
The Trace function creates a text file on your computer and records all your actions. It is there for the Development Team to trace bugs. There is no need for you to have the trace on unless you have been asked by support to create a trace file for us.
NOTE: Turning on the Trace file will impact on your computer’s performance and will create a large log file. So if you do turn a trace on, remember to turn it off when you have recorded the behaviour.
Read more about the Trace function in the section ‘Recording a bug’.
Set max API rate
Evolution gets its market information via the Betfair API (Application Programming Interface). To do so, Evolution makes different types of ‘calls’ to the API for this information. To get the best market data, set the API max rate to 20 calls per second. Or, if you are using Betfair’s website while you are using Evolution, set the max rate to 15. The higher the polling rate, the more bandwidth Evolution consumes. Read more about Evolution’s bandwidth requirements.
Count Calls to Betfair API
Betfair charge users for making more than 20 calls per second to their API. This function creates a text file that counts the number of calls you have made. If you are nervous about Betfair charges, then turn this on. However, it is impossible for Evolution to make more than 20 calls per second. The only way to breech the 20 calls per second is to run multiple instances of Evolution, run Evolution and other Betfair API software, or simultaneously accessing videos, etc., from Betfair’s website. Read more about Betfair charges.
Shutdown Evolution Server
Clicking this link will stop the Evolution server. Clicking this will log you out. This provides the same functionality as right-clicking on the EvoTray and selecting ‘Stop EVO Server’ (EvoTray available for Windows only)
