Status Bar
The Status Bar is a very important part of the Evolution Interface. Its most obvious feature is the timer, which counts down/up, but the API/RPS figures and the ‘traffic lights’ give you very important information about the age of the prices the Evolution has retrieved.
Off

When there are no markets open, this is what you’ll see. You can click the API/RPS text, which will bring you to a Betfair.com page about charges.
API: The API figure is measured in milliseconds, and is the age of the data. So if you saw 1.00, this means that the data that Evolution is displaying to you is 1 second old. API stands for Application Programming Interface, and is a third-party method of accessing the very same data that is displayed on the Betfair website.
The RPS figure is the number of polls, or Requests Per Second that Evolution has made of the Betfair API in the last calendar second. Note that the RPS figure is set via the Control Panel, and by default is set at 15 RPS. Betfair allow customers to access their API up to 20 times a second without charge. Market Pre-Race

If you open a market before the race/game begins (known as pre-race), the Status Bar lights up like a Christmas Tree. The timer in this screenshot is counting down and is at 10 mins 46 seconds. Note that it is blue, indicating that the market is still pre-race. We can see the API figure is telling us that the last retrieved data is 0.22 ms old. Note that the three lights are green. These are a quick reference point for the busy trader. Three green lights indicate that the market prices are less than 0.5 seconds old, three yellow lights mean that prices took more than 0.5 seconds but not more than one second. Three red lights mean that the API took longer than a second to respond with the prices. Obviously, the faster the prices are returned, the more accurate the data you see is.
Market 20 Seconds To Go

At 20 seconds to go to the race/match start, the background changes colour to burgundy (and if you have sounds on, you’ll hear a beep).
Turning On Sounds: To turn on sounds read about turning on the sounds.
The Off-Time

There is often a small discrepancy between the official event start time and the time it actually starts. During this period the timer will be orange. For a market not going in-play, these are the final moments of trading.
In-Play/Not In-Play

Once the race/match starts, this is referred to as ‘in-play’. When the market is in-play, the counter counts up, and the background changes to green or burgundy. A green background indicates that the market is still open for betting.
Suspended

When Betfair suspends betting on the market, the counter will change to a gray background with the text SUSPENDED appearing. At this point the grid/ladder will stop updating and SUSPENDED will appear over the market. After 2 minutes, Evolution will change the display from the counter/market to a Market Report.
